Megalithism in la Costa Brava
One of the most historic and cultural walking routes that we are currently offering. A circular and guided walk across La Serra de l'Albera, one the best locations of the whole northern Costa Brava if you want to discover from up close the megalithic culture of Catalonia.
Megalithic culture is thought to have appeared in Catalonia around 5000 years ago. This funerary art that transforms boulders in simple-structured monuments, has left lots of different dolmens and menhirs along la Costa Brava. Most of them can be found in the northern part of la Costa Brava, across la Serra de l'Albera, Cap de Creus and the whole Alt Empordà.
From Capmany, you will discover a circular route that will take you across different megalithic sites: the stone of sacrifices, an engraved rock, different menhirs and dolmens, and what could be considered a cromlech.
A walking route that will let you know a burned oak forest that is beginning to grow again, and protected lakes such as the one you can find really close to La Jonquera, next to Capmany.
